All Welcome

Raptor was back on his feet more or less. He had not quite thrown himself into his new role but he was making an effort and feeling lighter on his paws each day. His scent was now present on the borders, and some of the galley's offerings — one really ripe seagull and some fresher crabs and mussels — had been put there by himself that morning. That order of business done, he strolled to check on another task that was even more important than food:

The drink.

Tail wagging, the corsair inspected his work. He had collected an assortment of berries and apples and they were fermenting just nicely. In fact...

He leaned in close and took a big whiff.

They might just be ready for sampling.

That title omg xD

Julep trailed her way down from the forest to the beach to have some 'me time' with the waves, hoping she would find something in the water to play with and rip a couple limbs off of something. So far life with the crew was hardly eventful, and with the death of Piper she didn't really have much energy to actually get to know the crew and get involved in the lifestyle. But just as that thought crossed her she caught sight of the dark-masked wolf that had evaded her the other day. She got it, he hadn't been in the mood talk to anyone and she was nobody to barge in his life, but today he seemed far friendlier just by looking at him.

She noticed he was sniffing around at something which by the smell of it could be nothing other than fruit. What's that? she asked (not yet familiar with the concept of rum) as she took a glance, hoping that this time she wouldn't get the tail.

;)

The corsair lifted his nose from his concoction and looked upon the unfamiliar wolf he seen before. His ears slicked back as a look of guilt flitted across his face. It was brief. He soon smiled and wagged his tail, inviting her in with a gesture of his paw as he scooted aside to make room for her to look upon the fermenting fruits.

"Rum!" He answered enthusiastically. "Or at least... fruits that are almost rum. I was just thinking it was time for a taste to see how they are doing." He arched a brow at her.

It smelled way stronger from up close, and Julep wrinkled her nose at the bitter overtone she hadn't picked up before. Rum? That was unlike anything she'd heard before, also, what was it for? Raptor claimed it was time to taste it, but Julep couldn't comprehend why anyone would want to taste rotten fruit.

Rum? she asked embarrassed. It looked so common for Raptor that Julep felt like the odd one out for not knowing what it was all about.

Raptor stared.

”You never had rum before?”

He cocked his head and then looked from her to the rum and then back again. His tail thumped and he grinned.

”You’re in for a treat!” The corsair declared. ”Go on, give it a taste. It should be kind of sweet but also kind of... sour? It’s a different taste. Get you feelin’ real nice and warm and happy if you have enough!”

Raptor gestured with his snout to the fermented fruids, eagerly waiting.

Bewildered by the masked pirate's pitch on the substance Julep could only imagine what it was, but being the adventurous gal that she was she posed no resistance to his suggestion. She leans forward and gives it a sniff, and the smell of it made her wrinkle her nose. It definitely did not smell that good from up close, but with one last skewed glance at Raptor Julep went in for a good sip.

It was bitter and definitely fermented, yet... Somehow still so sweet? She licked and smacked her lips, wrinkling her face as the different tasted filled her mouth while she looked back and forth between Raptor and the rum. And then she concluded:

What the hell is it?
