she skitters along the shore, gangly legs dancing over pale sands that shift and move beneath her paws. waves lap gently at the shore; she was decided that they are her friends come to tease her, incite her into the water. she allows them to think she's almost had, and leaps back with a gasp each time they come just within range of touching her toes.

she pauses, driving a thin forelimb into the sand and watching the sand blossom up around it; grow light as water seeps down to the sand below. but the waves come back to tease at her again, and up and away she leaps, sand sinking back down and becoming very much the same as all the other sand on the beach.

He felt comfortable on the outskirts of the island. Although sometimes he drifted in and out like the tides, occasionally lingering inland (mostly to watch @Maegi work on Mou or to leave food for anyone who might need it) before drifting back out to his beloved lagoon.

On his stroll along the coast, he caught a faintly familiar form. One of the children seemed to have found their way out here. It was one of the ones that were old enough to explore but still young enough to require a watchful eye. A soft hum escaped him as he took short strides closer.

He had grown over his fear of children during his time here. Well, not fully but mostly.

The water won't hurt you as long as you're nice to it.

gaze honed in on a tiny shell half-caught in the waves, tail sticking up ramrod straight a beat later, suddenly intent on it. she dashed forward only to dash back in a beat, nearly toppling in her hurry to get back before the waves lapped against her paws - she was still dry(ish) and therefore winning!

shell lay forgotten, however, then a voice had her turn, dancing just out of reach of the waves and silently declaring T"no 'urt!"  she proclaimed, maw falling open and shut when she realized she had no word for tease, but "play!" worked just fine instead. "da play?"  she danced after the wave, reeling back, then looked again to him.
