Remi lifted herself up, pressing her head into her father's nose and lips and soaking his approval and affection.
She pounced the stone with a giggle then, capturing it between her tiny paws like a cat with a mouse, her rump in the air and her tail fanning excitedly. "I has!" She exclaimed. The silver girl scratched and scooped the gem toward her, rubbing her pads across its smooth surface and peering at its striking color intently. Then she swept it into her mouth and reared, throwing her head back with joy and landing herself immediately into trouble.
Remi had sucked the stone back into her throat as she tried to breathe, and was gagging on it.
