All Welcome
The girl had cannily called back @Morgan as he caught up to stop being such a baby. Then asked why he was all wet and couldn't get a comprehensible answer so she dropped it, finding the ocean forming to their left more interesting than his stuttering over words. Soon, she led him into a jog along the coast with regular stops to teach him of ocean-swept findings.

Before long, the pair found themselves at sunset and heading into tree cover, the same that she and Cry had passed through on their way to Gwen. She tilted her head up to the quaking boughs, the creaking sounds were unsettling. Surely last time they'd been here it hadn't been this bad.
She passed a wary glance to Morgan, "Do you think it's safe?"  The last thing she wanted was for her excursion to end in disaster.

Fuck he hated the cold. He ain’t had no business bein out in it. But goddamnit here he was, following behind Phex to ensure she didn’t get herself lost in no stupid shit. Or that some stupid shit came to sweep her away. Or something else fuckin stupid that would end up either killin or eatin or kidnapping or all three to the lil girl that just thought the world wasn’t out to get her.

If it is, good for it. If it ain’t, why you fool enuff ta stand under it?” This damn girl was gonna be what killed him. Not disease, not a heart attack, not even a fucking bear maulin. Nope. Babysittin this girl that didn’t know how ta just be a woman and stay put! But if there was one thing, she was a brave lil sprite, fixin herself to travel all over these woods and figure out what was what, who was who, and where they’re from. If only she had some damn wits about her to. “C’mon then, let’s get a move on.

Phex rolled her eyes, giving Morgan a look.
"I hope you know how helpful you are."  The girl grinned, passing under the boughs. They seemed...stable enough. For now. She wondered how the woods were decimated.
"You ever seen a fire?" She asked, continuing to nose her way through the ashes and over the charred trunks. It was a graveyard of nature.

Where there was a loss of life, there was often new life. She knew some plants liked the burnt ground. Perhaps it was something to do with minerals and nutrients, the stuff the plants ate. She often wondered how plants grew. Some seemed to need to be in the sun with lots of water. Some were the opposite. It confused the girl but hoped one day she'd find out why.

Helpful enuff ta have ta be the one bearin bad news to ya boahfren should one of these damn trees squish yer ass.” He said it grumpily, completely uncaring about the predicament of the trees and anything dealin with em. Big sticks, whoo. They grew leaves, big deal. But goddamnit when they fell, that was game over.

Her question piqued his interest a bit, but also lit a spark of worry in him. Damn it all if this girl was thinking bout starting a forest fire- “yea, actually,” he began almost cautiously, thinking him speaking it into existence would be what made it come back. “Seen one over there in the neck a woods over by the desert land kinda east a’ home. Was pretty small though- ain’t eat up too much since the trees were pretty sparse. Don’t even know what caused it.” Was small on scale but still dangerous. And like a smart wolf, he stayed aaaaaaaaallllll the fuck away from it. “Whas makin ya ask? Thinking bout bein a terrorist?

"Boyfriend?!" She shot Morgan a horrified look, her mouth hanging open like the gates of disbelief because Laroche was not her boyfriend. As much as she'd love for him to be. Being all handsome and sweet. "Not my boyfriend," she murmured, pouting and turning her face from Morgan. He didn't have to know how bummed she was about him not coming along, being too busy, and how much she wanted to go running back to find him.
Though she didn't know how soon she'd be his mate hahaha

She shook her head, carrying on through the woods, listening to his account of a forest fire. It sounded pretty wicked to her yet Morgan seemed to think it was like nothing. A forest fire was not nothing, clearly -- look at this place! Open your eyes cowboy.
She wondered what caused a forest fire. She knew the sun got pretty hot. Maybe that was it.
Then he said something she didn't understand. "The fuck's a terrorist?" She threw him a puzzled look, wondering if it was some kinda job. It sounded like a pretty cool job. Maybe it was stopping and putting out fires? "Does it mean I can put out fires?"

Shoah he aint,” the rustler snorted out. Little did she know the man had shown enough interest to near ward all potential suitors away. Well, that, and him talking to Morgan bout her. Any man worried for a woman had hearts for her. Either that, or they was a southern gent. Laroche wasn’t no southern gent name.

What typa- no gurl. ‘Es somebody makin terror! Just like you bein a irratationist, getting on my nerves wit all leez silleh quesshuns.”

What the hell typa girl wasn’t educated enough- Laroche better be schooling this girl or else somebody was gone snatch her up over some bogus answers to all these questions she had, whisk her off to some kinda wonderland. “That probably be a waterist.”

Phex cast Morgan a dirty look -- except she was incapable of such a thing so she just looked like a mildly angry lump of mashed potato. If there is such a thing I'd love to see because that is Phex right now.

She gave him a quizzical look, racking her brain for the word terror. Her brows furrowed, casting her gaze upwards. Watching the precarious remains sway like spinning-tops about to fall.
Oh.
"Oh someone making terror is making someone scared." She grinned like she was the greatest fucking genius, "why would someone do that?"
She did care is she was getting on his nerves, he'd just have to shut up and answer. She'd already let him off once today. She snorted. Waterist. "Waterer sounds better," she muttered, giving him a grin.

Chries almighteh, if I culd Shake mah head any harder, my fuckin neck would snap-“ his groan was rough enough to rival Kovertol’s morning roars. Gruff baritones addressed this gurl, his golds wide with disbelief. “were you raised ona farm, gurl? Or were ya just kept frum life as a whole?!
Obviously mister Cry hadn’t been able ta teach this girl left from right- let alone up from down.

Not evereh face you come smilin cross is one thas gone smile back atcha- and it’s even worse when thay do, and it just ta bite yer goddamn throat out.” They may not had been born as so, but some wolves were just untrustworthy. Snakes. “Not everehbodeh as peachy as you, Fex.”

Phex stopped dead.
She stared hard at Morgan, the sort of intense stare that would make some wolves cower -- and it came from lil miss sunshine.
"How do you know I'm not one of them, Morgan? Now you're alone with me. Here."
She kept her face stoic, yet inside she was grinning. She loved playing games.

Mor taught her how to pull mean faces when it was needed. Clearly, Morgan thought she was just some unjust child. She wasn't. She hid anything that ever bothered her under those countless smiles and bright eyes, she spread happiness like an infection because long ago she'd never been happy. She just made people think she was.
Now, after leaving that family she had grown in character. Mor...Where was she now? Phex wasn't certain but the glacier had been breaking, there were pack wolves chasing them. Phex came on the other side alone.
After the memory of the bright woman had passed, Phex moved on without a smirk or glint to her eye.

The sounds had nullified around them as it suddenly became just him walkin. Turning ta see the piebald had stopped her walk with him, he was bout ta tell her ta move her spunky butt before her deadpanned face shut even his smartass up.

His dark brown brow ride a high wave on his chiseled face- the hell?! What tha hell-
turning ta face the dame, he shoved aside his confusion and worry, thrust out his barrel chest and cleared the space between em mighty fast.

Then you better be puttin it ta benefit Shadewood Keep, or I’ll put ya down like a rabid bitch, Fex, I mean it.”

Little did she, nor really anyone else know, other than maybe @Tzilla, that he didn’t rough up nor kill women or children. He had a problem killin em even when it was made orders by tha boss. Haunted his conscious, and lotsa times he woke up hot and shaken next ta Vetty. A plenty a times he was sure he had fucked up and talked in his sleep about it, but the dark babe was always there to hush him back ta sleep.

He wasn’t gonna admit none of it ta this bipolar ass assassin gurl- and should big beefy him not return home, they’d damn sure look for him...

right?

She didn't flinch when he moved close enough to her that her nose could tickle his chest fur.
She knew he would hurt her -- nor she would hurt him. If such a thing were possible.
"Remember your place Morgan," was all she replied as she breezed past him.

She knew she would one day have to enforce her rank, possibly. She was no pushover in reality and she was more than capable of becoming better. She didn't because it wasn't what she was interested in nor had sufficient knowledge for. Perhaps as she grew older, she'd strive to become more influential in the pack but, for now, she was happy working away at the borders and hunting wherever she could. All she asked for was for others to remember that she was not a stupid young girl, and she could prove it. Even to grump-bag.

She laughed softly, the light within her exhaling again and the mood lifted, the tension between the pair dissipating like nothing. "Come on, I need you to help me look for plants or something. Anything green and small, new shoots." She wouldn't go as far as asking him if he knew what they were, she was sure he was smart enough to do so. Even so, she needed to know what grew here.

He was effectively bamboozled. She had just fluttered right past him, throwing a snarkless command in the wind like he was some kinda lapdog. It took him a minute, but damnit-

Aye, I ain’t gotta remember not a damn thing- speshulleh bout places and whatnot. We Family in this here posse gurl, and I could care less bout whatever the hell else flappin in that noggin er yers. “ She wasn’t bout ta be orderin him around- pulling rank was disapproved of in Shadewood, so Cry has said.

Bracing himself, he stood in place, refusing ta help her do shit till they cleared up this mess. “And shuld ya think yer all big an bad, handle it tha right way.” Hell, every wolf knew a challenge when they heard it. And apparently this was no exception. Cry did say they weren’t allowed ya pull rank- but he didnt say they weren’t allowed to beat each other’s asses.

Ain’t helpin ya look fer shit,” which he promptly punctuated in a snort sneeze.

She snorted, walking away from him. She didn't want his company anyway -- well, a little bit but she could think clearer without his southern drawl smothering her thoughts. He thought of her as a child. Of course, she could be childish but that was different. She could do adult things -- hell she'd prove it to him. She didn't need an escort.

She could fix whatever bridges she'd broken later. Perhaps. He was Family. He wasn't blood but he was Family. She just wished he'd think of her like it and not just accept it because "That's what Cry said."
She pulled a face and kept walking. She didn't look back, she knew he probably wouldn't follow. Even if he did he'd not talk to her. Probably stand watching from a way off as she looked for plants.

The forest would be good for plants, she supposed. The wood died quickly and that let nutrients into the ground for new things to grow or something. If she died, the things she ate would be put back into the ground. She's seen it around kill sites.
