the morning is overcast, but rusalka makes his way back to the den where he'd left @Solveig with a kiss to her cheek and a soft nuzzle to her rounded flank; a plump rabbit clutched betwixt his jaws. it was a snack, really; not enough to sate her hunger in full, understandably.
it feels strange to have an empty nest whilst knowing in the next couple of weeks it would not be empty. his heart aches with the knowledge that his eldest children would not meet his youngest for some time but he was proud of the children for sticking together. for protecting one another. for being brave enough to venture out of the safety of raventhorpe — even if it simultaneously terrified and worried him.
