All Welcome
Sobeille sometimes needed a break, leaving Tiuttuk to look after @Cairos, @Chireille and @Mirelyn for a few minutes. Though they were fussy—the girls, in particular—she didn’t mind this one bit. In fact, Pie relished the moments when she could just curl her slim, tricolored body around the three puppies and lose herself in them. They needed her for these few precious moments.

I love you, she thought toward them, not daring to articulate it aloud. She knew they didn’t belong to her, thus Pie wasn’t sure it was her place to declare her love. Yet she couldn’t deny it. She had never loved anyone quite like she loved these three squawking, squirming, needy babies.

She was protective of her left front leg, often pulling away when an adult attempted to clean her there. She was beyond fussy, but she was also surprisingly resilient. Despite the (thankfully decreasing) pain, she pushed her way to food enough to keep weight on her. When her eyes had opened, she looked at the strange moving shapes with reserved curiosity.
Mirelyn was slower to walk than the others, but what developmental progress she lacked in that area, she put into observation. She watched and listened to every little thing around her, drinking it all in.
The non-milk adult currently comforted the trio, and Mirelyn's large blue eyes watched the caretaker with an open look.

Two of the three seemed happy to doze under her watch. Although this wasn’t particularly exciting, Pie’s heart still swelled as she beheld them. And when her yellow gaze tracked to little Mirelyn’s face to see the blue-eyed babe staring right back, she sucked in a breath and grinned.

Good morning, Mirelyn, she murmured, resisting the urge to indulge in baby talk since Sobeille didn’t seem the type for such things. I’m so happy to see you. I hope you’re happy to see me.

Tiuttuk slowly leaned down to sniff noses with the bright-eyed infant, her two-toned tail thumping steadily on the grotto floor. She eyed Mirelyn’s left foreleg while she was up close, though it looked sound enough. She frowned thoughtfully, then sat up and replaced it with another beaming smile.
