Biography
The Medeiros Family
The name Medeiros can be traced back to a family regarded as royalty in their native land, valued for their beauty and their reputation for wisdom. The branch of the Medeiros family which spawned from The Gilded Sea, however, began when Morticia Medeiros fled her home and responsibilities in favor of her lover, Atlas, and his grand promises. She left all behind but the name, which Atlas took as his own at her insistence.
Atlas, disillusioned with his own life among the lower ranks of the Cyanean Empire, led his new wife on a journey far west — back to a place he had only heard of in stories. There they discovered The Gilded Sea and made it their home. The isolation provided by such hostile living conditions suited them well. For several years they raised their children together, always traveling and teaching each new generation to fear and respect both their parents and their home. Their teachings quickly turned cultlike and abusive, and their children silently rebelled.
Their rebellion reached its peak following the death of one sibling and the disappearance of another. The children of Atlas and Morticia drove them out of The Gilded Sea, variously dispersing or remaining behind to claim it for their own. The Gilded Sea soon proved unlivable, however, forcing the last remaining Medeiros siblings to disperse.
Many sought the safety of Casco Bay, eventually finding sanctuary in Sunfil Grove. Atlas II and Selene Medeiros were among those who settled there, raising a second litter before they perished to illness. Meanwhile, Atlas and Morticia Medeiros traveled slowly toward Casco Bay, recruiting others along the way. It was nothing more than a series of coincidences which brought them to Sunfil Grove's borders.
The residents of Sunfil Grove were driven out. Atlas and Morticia welcomed a litter of two shortly after their victory, and now rule over a pack known as Sunfil: religious zealots to the core. They were joined in 2024 by their granddaughters, Piper and Harmony Medeiros. Atlas named Piper as his intended heir soon after, even as Morticia birthed a litter of four only days later.
