All Welcome
The business hours of Lycabas were odd, to say the least. When his siblings were at their most active during the day, he could reliably be found dozing. (Unless food was involved.) And the moments between sunset and sunrise seemed to be when he was the most alert; restless, for all intents and purposes.

By now, it had become quite clear to him that nighttime wasn't a time of exploration -- his mother made sure of that -- so he often had to lie awake in the dark and make due with dawn trips or early evenings, if he wanted to see anything worth while.

For these reasons, his eyesight was slow to develop. His eyes were especially sensitive in peak daylight, evidenced by the way he would squint and blink excessively when first exposed to the sun's rays each time. He was squinting now -- in a rare daytime appearance -- though he had been outside the den for upwards of ten minutes, lying in the shade of a tree just outside the den.

Looking around, he noticed a squirrel foraging nearby, though instead of a blurry brown blob he wanted to chase, he started to notice its features: a small head with beady black pools for eyes and a long, fluffy, twitching tail. This was new. Lycabas cocked his head, studying it.

It would only be a few moments longer before he'd give in to the urge to try and catch it.

on the tree was perched a raven.

he was reluctant, but he had come to an agreement and now needed to uphold his end.

he descended down to where the pup could see.

mimicry was his sister's skill, and so he merely blandly croaked to capture its attention.
