When her receptive period ended, it faded leaving her with the feeling that it'd brought her a tiny bit of life- but nothing else. She was resigned now to walk the world as a half-beast, one whose soul had not come to back to life with her body. But within that nothingness, there was calm. It was if the hazy paranoia that had come into her heart with the curse had been drawn elsewhere- somewhere much deeper within her.
It did not stop her from patrolling the borders, but due to her precarious heart condition, she moved even more slowly now. She did not patrol for as long, or as much, and when she finished, she returned to the pack's creek for a drink, before trudging off toward her linden tree so that she could lay down and relax in the dappled shade. She heaved a sigh.
Life was different, when it was only half a life; but it really wasn't all that bad. She heaved a sigh, placed her head on a bed of dandelion fluff, and closed her eyes.
