After, her skin hummed quietly.
He (@Prophet) went his way before Sanja had any sense to notice. Her legs were like kelp at high tide; she carried his scent with her after.
Following the ravine to where it was safe to cross, at first, but the musk of something lively drew Sanja further north. The forest invites her in - and maybe she welcomes the dark of it too.
Thrilled, hungry, alive in a new way.

This thread is a bit outdated, but hopefully we can still make it work ^-^
Much was new, as to be expected. These were foreign — soon to be native, as was the hope — lands. But new was good. Where once only mountains could be seen, now lush greenery marks her path ahead. Some is thickly folded, but she doesn't mind some shade for a few miles on.
The pale bird hummed as she walked, feeling the wind occasionally ripple against her feathers. An aura of tranquility surrounded, gracing each muscle and limb the peace to lie still as she traipsed along.
Soon, Vespira could hear the chirps of birds singing along with her. A smile crept upon her face, eyes dancing around towards the higher limbs of the trees. If only she could join them up there — to be the first to touch the wind and another to reach the skies. But alas, like others, she was forbidden, grounded upon the terrain against her feet. It was not all too bad. Besides, birds often get tired of flying and cannot stay upon the ground long for the possibility of getting snatched by some hungry beast. Down here is better. This she knows.

There were scents of rabbit, quail, and a veiled flavor like deer upon the earth.
The birds were lively in the trees; they barely dipped in volume as Sanja passed where they perched, but she felt their eyes following her too, and it was a touch unnerving.
When she finally stopped to regard a wallow of exposed dirt — the kind that wild pigs might create while truffling the flora — there was the sound of marching feet; elated, thinking of the man and the good feelings he had stirred within her, she looked for signs of him.
A glimpse of something pale between the trees.

They were barren woodland... or so she thought.
Snap!
A twig;only a twig. The chorus above silenced, save the sound of departing wings. Upon hearing this, the bird's gaze shifted, veering to leer across her shoulder. So it was not a twig.
The figure moved, ever so slightly. They were, in fact, looking directly towards where she stood. It was always a disadvantage, for them to know where you stand before you know where they stand.
Vespira tsk'd. Her stomach shriveled, wrenched with a wavering feeling. Why were they still? Did they plan to charge? Did they think she was someone familiar? They were certainly not familiar to her.
For a moment, she considered calling out to them; but, what was the point? They were both well aware of each other. If they wanted her attention, they could request it. However, should they not desire it, she would go about her business like any other.

Something scurried in the forest's underbelly. It was quick enough that she couldn't see it, and frenzied enough that she could hear it, and it drew Sanja's entire attention away from the white figure immediately. She stalked after the sound in the manner of an intrigued cat.
The scratching, scrambling sound ceased as quick as it came. Sanja stood there listening, tilting her head one way or the other, trying to pick up any sign that the creature — oh! there!!
Deftly leaping at the fern bed, Sanja pinned the rat with her paws and then quickly snapped its neck with her teeth.
