Saying something was impossible was just a trigger for Finn to prove it was not. He was the typical daredevil that at the age of 1 almost 2 year had not yet outgrown his desire to risk his life for a bit of applause. Like a stupid 17 year old who would jump of a bridge just because their friends said he couldn't, Finn peered over the tallest point of mountains and provoked older males just for the thrill of it.
Today he had come upon the hot springs, and was pacing slowly around the craters his eyes set on the insides that thankfully didn't go off as he peeked. He had been a sole witness of the impossible becoming possible, he had been told by the elders in the small pack he had been raised in that he would never get out of there, and here he was miles away from his home looking for a new life.
Incredible things happened all the time, things that could only be believed by the eyes, so why couldn't he be one of those things?
Finley was a creature of excitement. She sought it, she lived it, and she embodied it in her very spirit and personality. Coming from a large family had taught her one very important thing: Sometimes it was very hard indeed to stand out. The only way to do it was to be an original, and to live your life out loud. Partnered with an innate love of adventure and adrenaline, and you had yourself one loud original indeed.
The silver woman trotted lightly through the hot springs, enjoying the feel of the steam on her fur as she made her way back to the Plateau. After a successful night of exploring Neverwinter (because who would be lame enough to go to a place like Neverwinter Forest during the day?), it was time to head back home to her willow tree and snuggle down in her den beneath its roots.
Something stopped her, though. And this something came in the form of a rather yummy looking piece of man. Finley peered at him through the mists, intrigue tingling down her black spine. Maybe it was his face, maybe his body, or maybe it was the incredibly narcissistic observation that he looked rather like her with sterling and onyx weaving through his fur, but this guy... This guy was.. Well, we're gonna go say hi to this guy.
"Please tell me you're not some phantom spirit that haunts these hot springs," Fin said jokingly as she approached him from the side, "I spent all night ghost hunting with no luck, it just would be cruel to spring one on me when I'm not looking." I would also really love for you to be real... she added wordlessly in her mind.
Every day he stood a little closer to the edge, pushing his luck to the absolute limit. He had the fortune of meeting with a rather friendly Alpha near the Sunspire, now that he though back on it, he could've easily gotten a nasty wound rather than a fair warning. Today he kept Ferdie's advice at the back of his mind, he'd think twice now before peeing over a random shrub.
At that same moment, with the same fury Ferdie had explored the other day, a thick bullet of steam shot through a crater adjacent to Finn's position. The silver boy jumped back, every single hair on his body standing on end. "Whoa!" , he shouted as he backed away from the steam cloud left behind. He wondered what lied now in the centre of the crater, though he didn't have to wait too long..
A feminine silhouette materialized out of thin air, her voice soft and alluring. If he'd thought the steam was hot, he was about to be blown away. "Right back at you darling , it's cruel to surprise a dude like that" He barked while he began to pad over to her wearing a smile on his face.
"A pleasant surprise" he clarified, his grin getting wider and wider.
Finley smirked as she watched him look upon her. She could tell by his words and actions that a game had begun, and it was one that she usually walked away from feeling very good about herself indeed. His attention pleased her, and it boosted the one aspect of her character that she certainly didn't need any more of--self-confidence.
"Sorry about that," she replied easily, "I hope I didn't interrupt bath time." Finley grinned at him, settling down onto her haunches for what she excepted would be a good round of flirtatious banter.
The soft sizzling of the crater couldn't compare to the sizzling of the girl's body, she was a fine specimen indeed. All other sounds were quickly drowned by the sound of her voice, she began by teasing him a bit to which the male responded with one of his signature killer smiles and a flick of his black-tipped tail. "No that spectacle was over a while ago" he answered coyly while taking a few preventive steps from another crater that threatened to go off.
He was well aware of the game they were playing. A thousand times he had engaged in flirtatious games like this. And even if his success rate was a little over 70%, he still took every gamble. It was truly a mystery how he kept his coat free of scars until this day, one would think that after breaking numerous hearts he'd take home more that a bite.
Not that he minded recieving a bite from her With his eyes dancing across ever inch of her face he sat down too. "Are you from these lands, or did you fall from heaven?" he asked while shifting his eyes from her to the lands behind her.
Finley found it rather difficult to take her eyes off of him, even as he didn't really do much of anything. It's just... he did nothing so well. She grinned softly at his response, enjoying his wit almost as much as she enjoyed his face. Well. No. She really, really enjoyed his face.
"No, not quite," she responded with a grin, "I'm from Black Deer Plateau, just East of here." Fin eyed him curiously. He didn't seem to have the scent of any pack on him, but that didn't necessarily mean he was alone. "What about you? Are you from somewhere, or did you just pop right out of the springs?"
A big juicy piece of hunky eye-candy.
The girl was not to blame for not being able to take her eyes off. Finn couldn't stop contemplating her figure either. Her amber caramel eyes were filled with life, holding a mischievous glint in them that drove the silver boy crazy. And she was pretty good at doing nothing too, the way she just stood there was fascinating. haha
His ears moved like radars, taking in everything she said. He remembered the male at the Sunspire telling him about a pack in the Plateu. Finn took mental note of the name and direction the pack was located in, if it was filled with more girls like the one in front of him he wouldn't mind paying a visit.
His lips emitted another smile when she asked of his previous whereabouts, joking by saying he popped out of the steamy craters of the springs. He was as hot as the boiling water that emerged from them, so why not? "I'm not from around here, girl." he barked with a light shrug of his shoulders. "I come from far far away" , he said allowing the words to drip off his tongue creating a movie-like pause.
The more Finley watched him, the more she began to wonder if he thought just as much about himself that she did about herself. What a pair they would make, she thought to herself with a smirk. She couldn't help but be impressed. It was quite a feat after all--to top her narcissism. Fin was actually a little proud of her accomplishments in the arena of self-admiration. It rather made her admire herself all the more.
Unfortunately, the handsome man decided at that moment to make his first mistake. Her ears flattened back on her head and her eyes narrowed at the little girl comment. Ignoring his charming little quip that was reminiscent of a movie she probably would've hated even though her player was SO IN LOVE WITH IT OMG, she pursed her lips in a frown.
"How intriguing, boy," she replied with an edge on her tone. Finley quirked a brow at him--did he really not realize how much of a woman she was? Did he really think all of this bazaam belonged to a mere girl!?
She was a little reactive towards men.
He was so used to giving ladies little nicknames he didn't realize what he had done after he saw a flash of dissapointment in her eyes. Not every girl liked to be called sweety, darling, or babe. He had learned that the hard way, through bites and snarls.
Uh-oh. He thought trying to easen the atmosphere with his hollywood worthy smile, "No need for the sass, girl. Let's establish names then.", he offered while graciously but never like his father dipping his head to the lady.
"Finn Ollivander, king of the hot springs, he barked with a relaxed tone while taking a seat in front of her, his olive eyes melting into hers. "And who might you be? " he asked with a smirk.
Finley felt her resolve melt as he shot her that smile. She didn't like to be swoony over men when it was them who should be falling apart over her, but she did find it rather difficult at times to not do so. She rolled her shoulders as she took a heavy breath, quirking a brow as she waited expectantly for him to share his name. She liked to make it a little hard for the boiz to get her name out of her, but if the alternative was to be consistently referred to as girl, she supposed she could skip that game this time.
Finn Ollivander, blah blah blah... was about what the silver fox heard him say. It all sort of went out of tune once he announced that his name was Finn. Which just couldn't be. He had her pelt, her carelessly charming personality, AND her name?? Her eyes narrowed in confusion and surprise. How is your name Finn?" she asked incredulously, "It can't be Finn. Who told you to say it was Finn?"
Finley was starting to suspect something strange was going on. Little did she know coincidence was just out to play tricks on her today.
It'd been a nice save, his smile had managed to buy him some time to make her oversee his little slip up and keep her hooked. He gave an internal Yes! and took a little step to break the small distance that remained between them.
But quickly, when she reacted towards his words Finn retraced his steps, feeling like his every efforts of charming her had come undone. He stared back into her her, which had now grown to be the size of the moon. What was so shocking? Hadn't she appreciated he called himself King of the Hot Springs? he wondered aimlessly. She questioned his the legitimacy of his name to which the silver boy reacted by quirking his brow and tipping his head to one side. Looking as utterly comfused as a pup who was being explained where babies came from.
"I'm not kidding" he barked just as she interrogated him like a murder case suspect. "No, no one told me to.." She was beginning to sound like a lunatic, though he would've probably done the same if he understood why his name was so surprising to her.
"What's going on? Was that your ex's name?" he barked while taking a wild guess, just as wild as the coincidence that had brought Fin and Finn together.
Finley felt her suspicions wane as he reacted to her accusation. He seemed to be taken completely off-guard, which seemed to suggest to her that this was not some sort of twisted plot to screw with her head. She relaxed a little, just as he was getting more worked up.
His accusation threw her. "What? No, I don't even have any exes. Well.. I guess... Not like they mattered..." Fin shook her head, trying to get herself back on track, "But no, Fin is MY name. Finley Blackthorn." She quirked a brow as she watched him, very curious to see what he thought about this little turn of events.
Suddenly, a little giggle rose up out of her throat as a thought popped into her head. Fin grinned at him, mischief sparkling in her umber eyes, "You have a girl's name."
As much as he would've loved to tease her while she stumbled over her words when and ex was mentioned, he didn't. He was intrigued to find out why she had reacted in such way. His mouth parted when she claimed to have the same name as him. She had won his fullest attention but was now trying to get his identity from him as well.
Olive eyes settled upon her face, a mixture of confusion and delight lighting up his orbs. He wagged his tail while he shook his heavy head from side to side with disbelief. "No way, you're my stunt double!" he barked still astonished by the extreme casualty that had given them the same name.
He threw back his head in laughter as he began to cirlce her, his eyes scanning every bit of her. She launched a joke and he recieved it with a flick of his tongue over his nose. No. That wasn't true, Finn was a manly name right?"Or you have a boy's name!" he teased while shovong her shoulder lightly with his nose.
His reaction elicited a smile from the silver female. "I would be way better at your stunts, I'm sure," she quipped at him as he began to circle her. She rolled her shoulder away from him after he nudged it, fighting to keep the grin on her face from revealing itself again as she eyed him humorously. "No, I'm pretty sure you have a girl's name," she teased back, "I mean, it even sounds feminine."
Finley found it hard again to take her eyes off of him as he circled her, somehow finding herself even more entranced with him than before. Damn, she really was a narcissist. "Besides, I wear the name soooo much better than you," she remarked matter-of-factly.
His tail was swinging wildly from one side to another, she was humorous, beautiful and filled with charisma. Really just like him. When she responded to his little joke, his eyes lit up with something unknown to him. "Yeah, I don't think so, you're cute an all but leave the dangerous stunts to the professionals" he mocked with a wide smile on his handsome face.
When she pulled away however, he couldn't help but to feel a bit offended, though it quickly faded when she saw the smile on her lips. Maybe she wasn't as touchy-feely as him. In addition to being particularly suceptible towards females and he was also prone to get physical, which in this case wasn't well recieved---yet.
"Ever heard of unisex names?" he barked trying to end the discussion, as fun as it was to tease her he wanted to speak of something aside from her manly name --or his girly name according to her."I think it suits you well, not better than me though.. but yeah it works on ya" he mused again, resisting to nudge her playfully once again.
Finley felt a tingling in her stomach as the handsome male mentioned that she was cute. Her iciness began to melt under the warmth of his eyes and she gave up the fight against her smile and allowed it to shine on her face. She tilted her head to the side as he spoke against her convictions regarding their shared name. She narrowed her eyes playfully at his words, her tail flicking back and forth like a pendulum.
"That's so kind of you to say, Finn," she said with a certain sense of finality. She, like him, enjoyed the conversation, but felt it was about time to find out more about this handsome creature. "So what are you doing skulking around the hot springs? Shouldn't you be hunting or guarding borders or doing something manly?"
Like butter in a hot toast Finley's gaze began to melt something inside of him. And for a minute he was sure he had melted another something in her too. No one, not even the fiery redhead that had ruled over the Creek had managed to reach his untamed heart. But there she was holding the veins and arteries of his most important organ and twisting them into submission. She was a bull rider.
He blew air out of his leathery nostrils, while keeping his eyes glued to the features of her face. A crooked smile settled on his lips as he sinked his olive eyes into the intense color of her own.
Something more manly than escorting a lady home?,, he ventured, would she accept his self-proclaimed invitation to accompany her back to the plateu?
I could always crawl back to the crater I slid from..he pressed on, wanting to hear from her lips that she wanted him to stay..
Walk her home? Really? She gave him a quizzical, almost bored look. She sensed that there was something about this male that was exciting and original, and here he was offering to walk her home. So cliche.
But.. he was making that face at her. And he added a humorous little tagline that forced another smirk from her. Finley sighed and climbed onto all fours. "You know, both options are actually really tempting... A real man would crawl into a crater for me and then escort me home," she replied with a grin, "But if I can only have one, I suppose I'll be nice and go with the first."
Fin turned away from him for a moment and spun her internal compass until it was pointing home, dreaming of her snug little den and the awesome nap she was going to take when she got home, completely unaware of the little twinge she'd feel in her heart when her doppleganger left her at the borders. Innocently unaware of any impending flicker of disappointment, she turned to the handsome wolf walking at her side and added with an eager smile, "If we go past any craters, I get to push you in."
Her bored was met by an eyebrow raise fro him. He wasn't about to back away his offer, no matter if in that moment she lunged at him with razor sharp fangs exposed. He had come to like her company and though he wanted the conversation to continue the truth was he was tired of the hot steam from the craters filling his lungs.
Standing near the boiling-water filled craters with a hot girl like Finley was almost suffocating. He smiled this time unconciously while she tried to choose wether she'd like him to walk her home or if she'd rather he went back to the sizzling inferno he had supposedly crawled from.
Only if you allow agree to see me again,he barked casually while parting his lips slightly to reveal his magazine cover smile. Then not being able to supress a low chuckle he flicked his tail to the side, where it's black tip brushed her flank.
Deal?he asked while his olive eyes trailed over her face.
Finley eyed him a tad curiously as he responded to her jest. He really seemed to be interesting in spending time with her. She felt flattered, but not really surprised. She knew how much fun she was to be around--if she weren't her, she'd hang out with her all the time (ow my brain). But still, something about this one made her feel extra thrilled that he seemed to want to keep her around. But Finley wouldn't reflect on that until much later that day.
The sterling woman felt a tingle creep along her black spine at the touch of his tail to her flank. She lightly shook off a shiver before returning his warm gaze and allowing a little smile of her own. "How could I deprive you the pleasure?" Fin replied with a wave of her tail. As she walked she stepped closer to him for just a moment to brush her shoulder against his. Not waiting to make sure that her touch had just given him the thrill of his life (which she assumed that of course it had), she laughed lightly and took off at a gentle jog with a handsome escort quickly at her heels.
