For anyone who wants to save my poor dumb ass pup! If you can get the CMs to count this towards your warrior trade, I will gift you avvies :P
It was late in the day and Finley had just returned from a successful day of accomplishing nothing that was of any use to anyone. Nonetheless, she was feeling rather full of herself for what she had successfully done, which was to make a flock of geese very, very agitated without getting a beak stuck up her bum.
She had just stepped off of the towpath to the Plateau and begun skirting along the edge of the mountains when a flash of bright green caught her eye. Fin turned her head quickly to land her gaze upon a little grasshopper, bouncing innocently across the ground. "Wha--hey! Where you going!" she barked after it as a broad smile leaped across her lips. Strangely enough, it didn't answer her, but that failed to stop the silver mockingbird from bouncing after it like a kitten pouncing at the light of a laser pointer.
Fin didn't have to follow it far before she lost it amongst the rocks and the loam. She landed with a triumphant growl upon a patch of yellowing grass only to part her front paws and find that her little buddy was gone. The wolf leaped to her paws and spun around in a circle trying to find it again, but the critter had gone, its scent joining those of the thousands of other bits of nature that could be found there.
Fin gave the ground a pout before looking around at her surroundings to find herself at the center below a small outcropping of rock upon the mountainside. To either side of her and behind were stone walls that reached higher up towards the sky than she could have jumped. The ceiling stretched out only a few feet from the back wall, creating a very shallow cave that would maybe have served good shelter in the rain, but only if the wind was blowing the right way for it. She spent a moment sniffing around at the cave wall and then rolling repeatedly over a funny scent she found in the corner before deciding it was again time to continue home.
The epsilon had taken about two steps of that journey before she froze in fear.
How Fin hadn't seen it before, she couldn't know, but she cursed herself emphatically when her eyes narrowed in on the creature. Panic took her immediately and sent her tearing backwards until her rump crashed painfully into the back of the cave. Tremors of terror ran along her black-furred spine as she tried unsuccessfully to back away from it further, scrambling against the rock with her paws and whining pitifully. She barked, she cried, and finally she belted out a high pitch howl for help that rented through the darkening air. On shaking legs she leaped towards one side and then the other, only to be foiled again and again as it darted back and forth to block her path, finally settling in the center as Finley stopped her struggle and crouched down frozen, heart throbbing, scarcely breathing against the back of the cave.
The brown moth fanned itself with its wings as it sat harmlessly upon a fallen tree branch that had been sitting just under where the ceiling ended and empty sky began, completely unaware of the set of brown eyes that stared at it unblinking in absolute terror.

i know we have an ongoing thread but I couldn't resist <3
Another dollar, another day. Finn was at it again, running through the flatlands with his tongue hanging out of his mouth, his heart thumping in his chest as his lungs filling with the fresh Autumn air. He had made a point of stopping to mark the Plateu's borders (this time as a legit member of a pack) and then, after having showered the little bush with his urine, a sound of utter terror made his heart jump out of his chest.
It was the call of a damsel in distress --but not just any damsel.
Immediately, the young Ollivander (who in reality was a Deveroux) sprung into action, his paws moving over the ground at a pace unknown to man. He soared above the grass and the base of the mountain, his eyes narrowed and his sides heaving. He wanted to call out for her but there was a knot around his vocal cords that didn't let him speak up.
He arrived as quickly as his long legs could carry him, and though he didn't hear a sound, he began searching for hear, whispering her name between exhales. His olive eyes darted from side to side until finally resting in the place where the cries had sprouted from. A dark and narrow cave that brought the contents of his stomach back to his mouth.
Finn was not exactly a knight in shiny armor; despite the color of his coat and his undeniable charisma, Finn had an Achilles heel -- which was the fear of confinement. Ever since he could remember he had had that irrational fear of feeling trapped, not only physically but also emotionally, hence why he never liked the term of boy/girlfriend
Jagged breaths escaped from his parted lips as he tried to calm himself enough to poke his head in the dark tunnel.
I-I'm here,he barked, struggling to keep his voice from breaking. He was as frightened as she was, if not more, but he had pushed himself to crawl inside for her.

Psh like I would ever mind!! <3
Fin was pretty sure that this was going to be the end of her. In truth, there was plenty of room to either side of the moth for her to slip past with a good foot of space between her and the creature, but she was kept in place by the fear that the moment she tried, the bastard would take to the air and land on her and she was so NOT okay with that. But, if Finley had had the ability to see that she could get out without getting hurt, then she probably would have been able to see that moths were completely harmless and it was ridiculous to be even the tiniest bit afraid of them let alone terrified. And then again, that would suggest that Fin was not a ridiculous character when we all know that she, in fact, was.
In her horror, Fin had failed to hear the footsteps pounding closer and closer, but she did hear it when a voice cried out for her. Her heart leaped into her throat as she recognized it, and with a sob she called back. "Finn!!" she barked, "Finn, kill it kill it kill it kill it kill it!!!" She wriggled helplessly against the wall as though she were about to run to him, but until the moth was dead she wasn't going anywhere.
To her dismay, her movement and Finn's approach caused the moth to take again take flight, which elicited another shriek from the Blackthorn. It wavered gently in the air, floating around near the ceiling, which was a good couple of feet above their heads standing. It bounced against the stone while Finley flattened her body against the ground and dug her claws into the dirt for dear life. "OH MY GOD PLEASE KILL IT PLEASE!!" she shouted again as though she were being mauled by a bear.

Entering the dark and ominous cavern was not the worst of it. He had managed to close his eyes at the time the his head went under so at first it didn't seem as bad. That until he opened his eyes. The darkness that embraced him now was terrifying, even if half of his body was still outside the male couldn't help but to tremble a bit. If it weren't for the girls soft whines he would've stuck frozen to the spot; but her voice kept reeling him in.
The tip of his claws schreeched against the gritty flooring as he crawled deeper into the mouth of the cave, keeping his body pressed to the ground and his ears pinned back at all times. Because his eyes had not yet adjusted to the darkness, he had to be guided by the sound of her voice. And though he still didn't know what monster he was facing, he kept his lip curled into a threatening snarl in case he came across the horrid creature torturing his look-alike.
KILL IT!, she yelled with all her might, instantly noting the urgency in her voice he lunged forward, using his own body as a barricade to protect her from the beast's savage claws wings.Once his shoulder felt the soft fur of her body he felt lighting run across his vertebrae.
For the slightest second the urge to protect her overpowered his terror, allowing him to look around the cave for the creature that had caused such havoc. His eyes scanned every inch of the cave but no monster or villan came into sight.
What was it?he barked still pressing his side against her as a precaution; but mostly because he was also terrified to be standing in a cave where the ceiling seemed to move and the walls threatened to close him in.

I am so freaked out by moths myself that I couldn't even bring myself to look at a picture of one so that I could describe it accurately *shudders*
In a moment, Finn's scent had filled the room. In Finley's panic and relief at seeing his face and feeling his presence, she failed to notice that with him, Finn brought another wave of anxiety that had nothing to do with the little moth that whirled around their heads. She ducked down as he came to her, crawling on her belly to place herself twisted beneath him and between his front legs. With her head pressed against the ground, she blinked up at him in confusion as he spoke.
"What do you mean 'was'? It's right there!!" Fin whimpered as she gestured with a paw up towards the ceiling. The moth was brown so blended in a bit with the dark ceiling, but it was large as a golf ball so it was still fairly noticeable. It landed on the ceiling with its wings settled down upon it to reveal the two yellow circles staring down at them like wide, freaky-ass eyes. Fin snagged her gaze on those circles and stared back, trembling and smashing her head against Finn's leg.

bwaha don't worry Finn will save ya
If it weren't for the soft touch of her fur against his flank, and the slight yet comforting shivering of her body he would've probably passed out right there. Although the fear of having the very walls of the cave fall in on them was still clawing at his chest he stood firm, his muscles tensed and every single hair on his back pricked.
The moth continued to glide above their heads, probably oblivious to the havoc it was causing underneath. Finn, with his tail neutrally held against his thighs, looked around for the monster, his eyes traced the dimly illuminated flooring but not even a print could be found. Suddenly, his stunt double that wasn't as thrilled to be doing this stunt either, squeaked beneath him, her paw gesturing at something above.
Thinking that she meant the ceiling was beginning to crumble, the panicked male hunched over, his tail whipping to one side and his ears falling flat on his skull. Then, realizing that the falling pieces of rocks he had seen had been production of his mind, he tipped his head back slowly, trying to estabilize his jagged breaths.
On the very center of the swaying surface that server as ceiling (it looked much closer and fragile in his eyes) two bright yellow circles stared at them. At first Finn thought the shiny eyes belonged to an animal, though he couldn't quite think of any creature that could stand on the ceiling like that... He issued a warning growl at the mysterious object, his eyes narrowing until the outlines of the paper-like wings and the antenna began twitching slowly, revealing the true form of the demon.
Confused, but not at all judgamental of her fear, he lowered his muzzle into the trembling skin on the nape of her neck.
It's alright, I won't let it get you,he murmured as he began pushing her towards the entrance, keeping himself over her at all times.

In her panic, Fin was able to notice that there seemed to be something off about her saviour--particularly when she felt him hunch down, trembling against her. For a fleeting moment, she thoughts perhaps the silver male was just as terrified of the moth as she was, which was both nice and awful at the same time. Nice because no one had ever before agreed with her on the moths-are-blood-sucking-demons front. Awful because it meant that they were probably both going to die in that cave.
His voice calmed her worries almost immediately as he touched her gently and let her know it would be alright. Finn wasn't afraid of the bug--he was just protecting her, she knew it. A whimper of dismay escaped her as he urged her forward at the crushing realization that he was only going to help her escape; not kill the fucker, but there was no time to argue about his rescue methods for it had begun fluttering around on the ceiling again.
Finley wriggled slowly across the ground, her head ducking below her shoulders to keep herself as far away from the devil bug as possible. She shut her eyes tight against the sound of it bouncing off of the ceiling, trying hard not to imagine its dusty wings scraping against the stone and instead focusing on her movements. Inch by inch, the pair of Fins crept back out into the sunlight.
For a moment, the Blackthorn had no idea she was safely away from the bug so tightly glued together were her eyelids. But as the cool wind tickled her fur, she became aware and peeked at her surroundings. Still trembling beneath her doppleganger, she asked with a shaking voice, "Is it.. is it gone?"

Being afraid of the moth as well would've probably been less embarrassing for the male, though it would've made him a second damsel in distress, at least he would have been able to shrug off the ridiculous actions he displayed at the cave. Though he couldn't recall when on why he had started fearing closed spaces so much, he did remember the problems it had stirred a while back when he was still a growing child.
The bullying made by the other kids wasn't even the worst part, it was his mother's frustration what affected him the most. When in cold stormy nights she stayed up, begging him to come inside, tears camuflaged between the raindrops rolling down her cheeks as she watched her boy tremble like an idiot in the mouth of her den.
Leaving those thoughts aside, the male continued so prod the female, slowly leaning on her as he also shielded her from the winged demon that fluttered near the crumbling ceiling. By mercy of the non-existing gods in the sky, both made it out alive, not completely well but alive.
While Finley could be assured that the moth wouldn't give chase, it would be harder to soothe the male, who's eyes still shifted from side to side expecting the cave to reach out and swallow him as a whole. Her voice however, reached his ears in time to save him from having a breakdown. He looked down at her, his knees still shaky and his voice jagged,
Gone for good,he tried to assure her, his eyes fleeting from the mouth of the cave to the crown on her head.

itty bitty powerplay in assuming Finn wouldn't take off immediately after her...!
Fin didn't fail to notice then that her companions legs were still shaking--she just failed to realize that it was from his own terror instead of from his muscles being pissed at him from walking so weird with a girl between them (LOL). At his assurance that the moth was long gone, she breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
And then, she ran for it.
Like a lightning bolt, she shot out from beneath her saviour and sprinted away from the cave. If that was a place that moths liked to visit, she wasn't coming within a mile of it ever again. For near a minute, she ran as fast as she ever had in her life before finally stopping and collapsing onto her haunches. Panting heavily, she turned and looked around, feeling a little frantic upon realizing she had left Finn behind. Where was he? He had to be there NOW! What if there were more moths? OMG WAS ONE ON HER!? No. No, one was not. But still! A whine escaped her as she sat hoping that he would hurry.

totally fine
It took a minute for Fin to recover his breath and another two to stop feeling the ground wobbling beneath him. But it took less than two seconds for the silver coated girl to take off without a word. He watched her slip from beneath him, and gallop into the distance, leving him unable to follow (because of his stupid shaky knees) and unable to call out to her, due to the lack of oxygen in his lungs.
After the tedious three minutes that took for him to recover, he began to make his way away from the cave. Though he didn't use his nose to track her down, he unknowingly trotted down the same path she had taken. After her ungraceful departure, the knight in shining armor wasn't sure he wanted to see the damsel out-of distress for a while -- laying down and calling it a day sounded better.
However as he continued to march away, another whine from said damsel reached his ears. He turned his head instantly wondering how could it be possible for her to run into another moth in such short span of time; it is useless to say he did not hesitate before attending to her call. If he was to save her again he at least hoped she wouldn't leave him to die inside the dragon's mouth this time.

Finley chewed on her lip as she waited for Finn to come to her. Her ears fanned out to the sides of her head as he finally approached. She lowered her head as an apologetic little smile danced across her lips, her tail wagging softly, soft brown doe eyes wide and shining. She didn't say a word to him, only waited for him to say something. Usually, this was the part where she began to be berated for her absurd fear and she'd have to defend herself with her completely absurd reasons for being so afraid.
Hopefully the puppy eyes would help to melt Finn's irritation with her, though. It wasn't a trick that worked when she was young and tried it on her brothers who had come, panicked, to her rescue. But maybe on a boy who was allowed to bone her, it would have some affect.

His paw steps were soft and measured, though he could not see a moth or any other type of winged demon around her silvery silhouette he was cautious when approaching her -- she was unpredictable, and though she looked at him with angel eyes there was a chance she might just take off again after he reached her.
Surprisingly enough, she did not flinch this time, instead she wagged her tail as a surrender flag and offered a melting glance as a peace offerring. Fuck, why was it so hard to walk away? Like a moth sorry omfg couldn't help it lurred to the light, Finn walked up to her, his eyes merging with the softness of her own.
Her cute little smile was the worst part of it all.
He stared at her while fighting the urge to twist his lips into a smile of his own, but after a couple of seconds, he gave in. Her velveteen chocolate eyes were no match for him, he knew it -- and to his dismay she did too.
After his own smile shone next to hers, he allowed his delish bum to fall onto the ground.
Man, being a knight in shining armor is hard these days.,he mused while shaking his head subtly in mock disapproval.
Not even a thank you -- or a tip! I dunno, I'm gonna have to find another jobhe continued, his brow furrowing in an exaggerate manner, while his eyes searched slowly her own.

*cries* I hate to do this, but you want to wrap up in your next post? ):
It worked. Fin's smile broadened as she saw his resolve melt against the power of her adorableness, and she lifted her head a bit while her ears perked forward. His comment brought a gentle chuckle free from her throat. She searched his face to catch a glimpse of his soft olive eyes, delighting at the sight of that unusual gleam that was always there when he was looking at her with that look on his face.
"You're right.. I am being pretty ungrateful," Fin replied coyly. She quirked a single brow at him, her eyes glinting mischieviously. She leaned towards him, her muzzle guiding her way towards his throat. A low purr rumbled from her chest as she reached out and allowed her breath to ruffle the fur upon his neck.
Fin stopped only centimeters away from his neck and a wicked grin twisted across her muzzle. Without a word, she hopped merrily away from her, another laugh bursting free. "HA! In your dreams, handsome," she barked at him jovially. In the next moment, she leaped towards him and fell into a play bow, growling plafully one moment and then darting off the next in an invitation for him to chase.

oh baby I'll miss youu (and finn of course..) ;-;
She was a tease -- she knew it, and she loved it.
Though Finn would've like to grab her shoulders and shake some sense into her, he remained completely immobile as she filled his nose and tickled his skin with her warm breath. There was no wordly power that could make him shift his gaze from the chocolate-ly abyss of her eyes -- but as usual there wasn't any outwordly power that could make her stay either.
She was also a runner -- and avoided; though he didn't think she knew it.
Just like him, she wore an outer armor that shielded her from every attempt he made to reach out to her.
She was untouchable.
In the next second she jumped away from his grasp again; like sand sliding through his fingers she was out and about again. Leaving nothing but the disappearing image of her bum waving in the distance.
And he was a fool -- one that didn't feel the cuts in his heart and ignored the gushing blood just to get another glimpse of her smile.
As she vanished into thin air, he lunged for her, not realizing that once again he was chasing the falling stars -- the ones she rode.
