Cerulean Cape i like turtles

Kirain's silver eyes widened with excitement, her tail wagging in sync with his rising energy. A pirate crew? That's amazing! I've never encountered one before. What were they like? Did they talk all funny? Did they show you some treasure? Her words tumbled out in a gleeful rush, as if her curiosity couldn't be contained.

The idea of pirates and treasure seemed almost too fantastical to believe, and yet, the thought lit up her imagination. Catching the hint of uncertainty in his voice, she leaned forward with a soft, encouraging nudge of her nose. I think you'll do wonderfully at whatever you put your mind to! You'll truly be a turtle fighter then, she teased, a giggle bubbling up. But seriously, do what feels right to you.

firefly's grin widened, her enthusiasm contagious. i havent gotten to meet the whole crew yet he said, his tail thumping against the ground. but the captain, Nox, he’s got this whole mysterious thing going on—commands respect without even trying, y’know?

he chuckled at her barrage of questions. so no treasure yet—at least, not that he showed me. but he talked about it, like it’s just waiting out there to be claimed. can you imagine?

her encouragement made him pause, his smile softening. you always know just what to say, don’t you? thanks, kirain. i'll carry that with me. and hey, he added, a playful glint in his eyes, i’ll keep an eye out for any giant pirate turtles.

he laughed, his tone light but filled with genuine warmth.  i- he paused i hope our paths cross again, kirain. i really do. unless.. he hesitated before looking down at his paws, you wanted to come join too.

i can't with him! he is to innocent and i feel so bad for the things i have in store from him

Seeing him smile and hearing his carefree laugh filled her heart with joy. He deserved to remain that way, untouched by worry, free to chase adventure. She could picture him now, with all the daring charm of a true pirate, dashing and bold, as though he belonged to the sea itself.

Kirain paused, his last words echoing in her mind. Her tail stilled, the movement fading, and her gray gaze dimmed with thought. Should she stay? By his side, they could become an unstoppable force, slayers of sea beasts, discoverers of untold treasures. She could imagine it so vividly, yet... something about the idea felt hollow, incomplete.

I hope we meet again, Firefly, she said softly, her voice carrying both warmth and a tinge of sorrow. She turned her gaze toward the vast ocean, its endless blue stretching into a golden shore of sunlit sand. This place… it’s beautiful, but it doesn’t call to me. She hesitated, her heart pulling in two directions, before meeting his eyes again. I would love nothing more than to stay by your side, but the mountains... they beckon me.

firefly’s smile faltered, just for a moment, as her words settled over him. the idea of parting ways tugged at his heart, but he understood. her path was her own, as his was his. he took a deep breath, letting the air fill his chest, and forced his grin to return, though it held a bittersweet edge.  

the mountains, huh? he said, his voice light but warm. i can see that. you’re a wanderer, kirain. the kind of wolf who can’t be tied down. he chuckled softly, his tail swaying behind him. nakes sense the mountains would call you. they’re big and wild—just like you.

he stepped closer, his gaze steady as he met hers. but don’t think for a second i'm lettin’ this be the end. one day, when i’ve got stories of sea battles and treasure hunts, i’ll find you. maybe you’ll have some tales of your own—adventures from those mountains, things I couldn’t even dream up.

his grin brightened, and he gave her a playful nudge with his shoulder. so don’t go thinkin’ you’re rid of me, kirain. you’ll see me again. he paused, his expression softening. until then... take care of yourself, okay?

buuuut i have to for the plot

Her laughter spilled from her lips at his comment about her size. She wasn’t exactly formidable, but she appreciated his encouragement. He was so sweet, and that only made this parting even harder. The adventures they could have shared... but not yet. There were journeys they each needed to take on their own.

I’ll hold you to that, Firefly, she said, her voice steady despite the ache in her chest. When we meet again, I want to hear every single story you’ve got, so don’t hold back. Make yourself the most exceptional pirate out there, okay? And I promise to take care of myself too. We’ll meet again, it’s a promise.

With a gentle nudge of her nose, Kirain offered him a genuine smile. She believed it with all her heart, good things were on the horizon. They would find their paths, uncover their potential, and when the time was right, their journeys would intersect once more. For now, she had something beautiful to hold on to, a future worth waiting for.

firefly’s ears swiveled at her words, his tail giving a slow, thoughtful wag. he looked at her, truly looked, as the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting them in a soft, golden glow. the ache of goodbye was there, but so was the hope she’d sparked.  

for a moment, he said nothing, letting the quiet linger between them. then, as his gaze dropped to the ground, something caught his eye. nestled in the sand was a small, iridescent seashell, its colors shimmering faintly in the fading light.  

wait here, he murmured, his voice softer now, carrying a warmth that matched the setting sun. bending down, he scooped up the shell and padded back to her, holding it gently between his teeth before setting it at her paws.  

for you, he said, his tone light but earnest. a little piece of the sea, so you don’t forget me. somethin’ to keep until we cross paths again.

he stepped back, his smile softer now, the edges tinged with bittersweet emotion. every time you look at it, think of me out there, causin’ trouble, making stories worth tellin’ when we meet again. and i’ll be thinking of you too—wanderin’ those mountains, learnin’ all the things this big, strange world has to offer. 

his gaze lingered on her for a moment longer, before he turned his head toward the horizon where the sky bled into the sea. until then, kirain. it’s a promise, he said, his voice carrying a quiet, unshakable certainty.

without thinking and bursting with sudden confidence he gave her a quick lick on her cheek before taking off towards the forest, towards the place he was to call home. he knew any moment longer he stayed, the more his heart would fall into the depths of her ocean. but he couldn't risk steering her off course. no, if something was meant to be, her compass would point north to him.

She watched him closely, her eyes tracing the curve of his features. There was a warmth in his expression, a sweetness that sent a flutter through her stomach and softened her heart. Her breath hitched as he moved suddenly, reaching down into the sand. Curiosity sparked, and she tilted her head, watching intently.

When he returned, cradling a beautiful iridescent shell in his jaw, the sight tugged at something deep inside her. Tears threatened to spill, but she held them back. Why did goodbyes always have to hurt so much?

As if I could ever forget you, Firefly, Kirain teased gently, her voice trembling despite her best efforts to steady it. She nodded, her heartfelt smile a fragile bridge between them. Thank you. I’ll cherish it.

Before she could say more, he leaned in and brushed a quick lick across her cheek. The warmth of the gesture left her flustered, her cheeks burning as he turned and dashed toward the forest. She stood frozen, her gaze following him until the dense trees swallowed him whole. Even after he disappeared, she lingered, staring into the shadows as if willing him to return.

What if I followed him? The thought whispered through her mind, tempting her. But she knew she couldn’t. Not now. With a quiet sigh, she bent to pick up the lovely shell, holding it delicately in her maw. Turning her eyes to the horizon, she let the rhythmic crash of the waves calm her restless heart. Today had been worth every moment of heartache.

As she turned her gaze toward the distant mountains, their towering peaks seemed to call her name, promising new adventures and untold stories. She swore she would see him again, no matter how far the journey.

With a final glance at the forest, she set her sights forward and began to walk, leaving the shore, and a piece of her heart, behind.
