Redhawk Caldera not enough to go around

Elwood's initial response was to nod -- it was no secret that Peregrine thought highly of the more practical trades, like gamekeepers and wardens. It was the Alpha's opinion that had influenced Elwood in choosing his own roles, though that hadn't been the only factor. Hunting was one of his skills, and he had a natural instinct to protect the pack. The warrior trade had been a bit more difficult for him to earn, if only because he had never been trained in sparring -- but Fox had taken care of that quickly.

"I'm a gamekeeper, warden, and warrior," he replied as Jaws watered a short patch of bushes, appearing to be careful not to use up all of his ammo at once. "Kind of for the same reason as you -- Peregrine said that was what the pack needed when he recruited me." Now that he thought about it, his and Jaws' entrances into the pack sounded a bit similar. Rather than turning up on the caldera's doorstep and asking for a home, Peregrine had offered it to both of them. The swarthy Alpha must have seen potential.

"What are you thinking about for your third trade?" he asked, wondering if Jaws would take a more or less conventional route -- both Fox and Peregrine would approve of another warrior, but they had also lost their healer and counselor over the last couple of months. In the meantime, he paused to scratch at the ground with his claws, then sprinkled the patch of earth.
