Instead of a midday nap, Pasha fought it.  He had flopped about restlessly and quietly as all others could have possibly settled down and snuggled in.  But it felt too hot to him, perhaps even too muggy though he had yet the proper words to put to them.  Even with the urge to gnaw on things, he found himself drawing a tired gaze towards the dim light that seeped in from the den mouth.  That's where the world was, no question about it.  That's where all the fun and adventure lay, where he didn't need to settle in for a nap or have to be corralled when the weather turned nasty.

So when he thought that everyone was tucked in and at rest, Pasha began a slow wriggle towards the den mouth, his in progress coordination only lending him so much silence as he snaked about.  He could have made a run for it, but he didn't dare.  It would have been his luck that he would have come bumping into something, tripping on someone, or even worse, perhaps being caught under the watchful eye of either parent.  He drew closer and closer, only pausing when he heard the start of heavy breathing behind him, or even the obvious shuffle of someone diving into dream world.  The only real stop he made was when he spied the fringes of white on blue, in awe of the outside world without actually venturing any further into it.  Besides, he reasoned in his childish mind — the sun felt good here.
