The pup lifted her head, ears twisting backward in surprise when he told her he wasn't welcome at the rendezvous site. Her brow furrowed at his next comment as her eyes dropped to her garden. Maybe he couldn't see it from where he was standing.

Hopping over the toiled earth, she jogged back up to him. "Did my parents tell you that? Well, it's at the edge, so it should be fine. I'm not trying to grow them in the den, they're just outside. Come see... please?" She didn't think her parents would mind if he stuck to the outskirts of the clearing and she really, really wanted to show him the raw earth and see what he had to say about it.
