Between Finley's unexpected tears and Elwood Jr's sorrowful reaction, Wildfire suddenly felt horribly guilty for considering it at all. Her lips parted to reassure them when her little cousin pressed against her chest, knocking the wind out of her somewhat. Instinctively, she lifted a foreleg to wrap about his small shoulders even as she bent down to give him a comforting lick between the ears. She felt him sobbing against her fur and the guilt redoubled as she looked almost helplessly at her godmother.

"I'm not going anywhere right now," she said. That much was true, at least. Maybe she wouldn't leave at all. These reactions definitely didn't compel her to depart. "I promise that if I ever go anywhere, I'll be really careful. I won't get hurt." Whether she went to Moonspear after all or she wound up staying here, she was bound to go adventuring sometimes, so Wildfire felt it would be dishonest to say anything else. Her ears flicked back, hoping she hadn't just made Elwood Jr even more upset with her iffy wording.
