Phoenix Maplewood disconnect and self-destruct

One ear flickered at the sound of paw falls, and casting her spring eyes back to the oncoming figure, she noted she did not recognize the woman – a soft agouti pelt and pale brown eyes. It was not perhaps the woman’s soft good looks that intrigued Gaia, but the relaxed nature in which she spoke to the man – referring to him as openly handsome.
 
Gaia had never seen what she had considered as open flirtations in her young life, and she felt her heart quicken in both discomfort and allure. To be so bold!
 
At the question posed to the man, Gaia allowed her eyes to drift back to the stranger once more, regarding the bone he dropped to them both. It would have seemed to be a token to gaining foot within their ranks – but then he surprised her by claiming he was only visiting. “This is quite the gift from a lone wolf who has no pack to help feed him,” she offered, her tone soft, and yet she could not keep the suspicions from her voice. “You only seek information?”
