Gilded Bay no fun

His gaze sought out one last chance at an escape route, somewhere he could sprint off to before he met with the wolf. Unfortunately, the bay offered little in the way of cover, especially so close to the oceanside. And he knew outrunning her would be a futile effort — he was already malnourished and quick to tire. So, instead, the coyote would have to take the full force of the attack and hope that this wasn't his last stand.

Thinking the stranger would go immediately for his throat — a swift death would be all he asked for if it came to that — Sica ducked his head protectively over his neck, only to realise too late that she was actually aiming for his legs. The larger predator's teeth sank into his forelimb, and the coyote howled in pain as skin punctured and blood quickly escaped the wound. She succeeded in uprighting the creature, as Sica squirmed and lost his footing with one leg in her jaws as she tugged. He fell onto his side but not without snapping his jaws at her face, hoping to draw her blood in retaliation. To make her know he wasn't going down without a fight.
