Larksong Grotto Shiny things

the weight of knowing she must depart the grotto's den where seff had lived these past weeks did not sit well upon vuk's shoulders. she found she was wounded by reek's decision -- he had not even consulted her. and yet she had no right to ask such of him -- his word was law, and she would obey.

she woke with a start, eyes widening as she felt around for seff's warm little body. he was not immediately found; vuk rolled to her side and then her feet, stepping quickly along his trail. it was a sigh of relief that took the girl when she found her babe out-of-doors, unharmed and cooing.

on a whim, vuk swept her son into her jaws and set off at a trot across the larksong woodland. she knew not where she would go to find a suitable den, only that she would not return to the little grotto where she had been.

the girl was both surprised and not so to find that her heart ached to leave reek behind, but he had chosen the reddish woman and her teachings. let him. she would focus upon terich and his affection for her.
