Grayday wobbled a bit, and sucked in a deep breath when she confirmed what he'd always feared. His parents were dead. His father was dead. There would never be answers to the questions that plagued him. He'd always known that, of course, but it had been good to hope. It had been good to imagine.
"How'd they die?" he asked softly, ignoring everything else she said. He didn't give a damn about his brothers and sisters. He loved them, and he wished them well, but there were more than he could name, and only Sunspot and Shale had been close to him, his littermates.
