Grayday side-eyed the pale woman beside him, thinking that she still looked rather drawn. Slowly, their short conversation trickled back to him, and the male cleared his throat, not wanting to allow the dispassion in Gwen to linger unchecked.
"You're still feelin' lost, huh?" he said, the words a question but his tone a statement. He stole another glance in her direction, remembering his months of reclusive behavior at Silvertip. If someone had sat down with him and demanded that he talk, would things have been different?
(He thought of Adeline and was glad that no one had tried it.)
"I haven't seen you around much," he added. "Sunspot tells me you've been keepin' to yourself."
