Once the sensation subsided, Bat rotated her head to let the opposite ear drain, which tickled even worse. She giggled and thumped her hind feet against the soggy wooden floor, smiling when Tux rejoined her. He seemed curious about her movements and even mirrored the tilt of her head.
"Wadoo," she said, "tick-uh!" But now both ears were drained and there was no more of that simultaneously titillating and irritating feeling.
Straightening out a bit, Bat plopped forward onto her belly and slithered nearer to the log's opening again, peering out at the rain. Wildfire's quiet warning ("Stay inside or you won't get dessert") wasn't strictly necessary. The Goufa settled there, content, eyes wide as saucers as she watched the water pour from the sky, transforming the world.
