Haunted Wood the devil took him to a very high mountain

A multitude of things had happened within a narrow period of time. He had assumed a trail had been left by a hare, but just as he had recognized Kai's shuffling beside him, it had vanished. She wasn't attempting any stealth, and with his own orbs he watched the speckled youth as her body language shifted from nothing yet to something's here. He something, not dangerous, but something edible. Though he wasn't as hungry as eating carrion would force him to be, he still figured it be worthwhile to invesstigate. If she was hungry, he would allow her to eat first. Well, regardless, he was going to let her eat first.

But there was a sound of warning that snatched his auds much more than idle thoughts. The caws were a warning of the memories that flooded him dealing with his visits to Slade in Blackfeather's forests. No more nor less than a gazillion crows inhabited that forest, so many in fact that Cry assumed the Forest belonged to them. He rushed forward and immediately threw his head up looking for any murders that happened to be there waiting to ambush the pup. A bit overprotective, but birds could inhale the little fae and she could be gone just that quick. Or something even worse, they could blind her, or infect her with something nasty. That was the last thing eithe rof them needed. 

Being not too far from the scene, he was surprised to see the crow alone enjoying it's meal, a contempt look upon the tiny face of it's own. It wasn't too large of a bird, but it was alone, and one was enough to pluck the eyes from a wolf, let alone a smaller wolfdog. Would it change it's course of action as it saw two rather than one present?
Deciding action was best in this situation, the dark guardian threw a forelimb out there betwixt the crow's field of range, trying to swat the small thing from the less-smaller wolf mix.
