Rannoch was the one who had approached as Baelfire's mind meandered. He had spotted the newly-recruited wolf from a distance and had decided to introduce himself. "Hey there," he greeted, pausing at a conversational distance from the other, "My name is Rannoch—one of the two Leaders of this territory." Treason had howled recently about a new joiner, and Baelfire's description matched.
Rannoch had been distracted himself, as he had been out stretching his legs in preparation for his next baby-watching shift. Although he couldn't stay long, he figured meeting one of the newest Recruits wouldn't hurt.
