Witch's Marsh A Toad's Memory

marten looked around quietly, noting that the marsh did seem all of the things she mentioned. she seemed enthralled by it all the same, though marten didn't quite understand why. he wondered what happened here to make her love it so -- if you asked him, it seemed like a breeding ground of pneumonia. 

but still, he didn't tell her that. 

i would like to stay, he told her with a small smile, i'm learning medicine and herbs. best he could without a teacher, he had experimented his way to where he was... which wasn't too impressive, truth be told.
