he took the easiest route he knew how which was around the mountains rather than through them. whether or not that would save or lose them time mattered little to him, he just wanted both of them to get there in one piece. and so while he took the lead on their little adventure, he kept at her pace, not wanting to push her any further than what she was willing to give.

the trip itself took about two days, though admittedly about a quarter of that time was spent searching for the volcano itself. however once he caught sight of the fuming mountain in the distance, there was no power on earth that could have stopped him from completing his dream. "we're almost there!", he let out with obvious excitement as he turned to face his pale companion, just a few more minutes of walking between them and their goal.
