Silver Moraine drive it like you stole it

The boy's cry made her ears paste to her skull as a dull ache throbbed there. It didn't grow any worse, so she exhaled shakily and ignored the reunion taking place in the background as she mustered all her focus for Kaertok. He said something to her, which took a moment to register, as her brain felt suddenly incredibly sluggish. Perhaps it was shutting down after all that pain.

Her lips pressed together to form the word "no," though it never passed her lips. "Go with him," Artemis whispered in her ear. Haunt inhaled sharply, wondering why the deity would command such a thing from her. Why would she want to go anywhere with her deadbeat dad, especially when she felt so terrible? She just wanted to turn back and go home.

But she wasn't one to question a god's decree. Haunt didn't speak, though she did manage a slow nod. Gingerly, she rose onto all fours, slowly plodding toward Kaertok with the expectation that he would guide her wherever home was for him these days.

What would become of her beyond that, Haunt didn't have the brainpower to speculate. In fact, somewhere along the way, she lost her grip on her mental faculties completely. It happened in insidious silence between footsteps, nothing at all seeming to change except for the sudden slackening of her facial features.
