By the time Vaska reached Brecheliant, he was a muddied, bloodied mess. Slush dripped from his tangled fur and weariness lined the hard and downward cast of his eyes. Who knew if the girl was even still alive? He hadn’t slowed since he’d left her and her sister by the riverbank, and as much as the thought of walking near pack scent made his skin crawl with a million fleas, he couldn’t shake the feeling of her breath from his mind.
So much like Vidaar and Venere’s.
His gravelly howl rose long and urgent through the air, punctuated with the names the stranger had given him: @Bronco, @Bridget, @Eljay. And one final note: Dee. Maybe they’d been looking for her already. Maybe they hadn’t noticed her missing at all.
