Oh,Lycabas said out loud to the revelation that she had always been introduced to others, though he wasn’t sure what elicited such a response. He had meant to keep quiet. It just jumped out of him, like a salmon flinging itself upriver. He wasn’t used to being surprised.
I wonder why she even talks at all…
He pondered this for himself, becoming momentarily distracted as the girl implored him to eat. The hungry scavenger didn’t need to be told twice; he bent to grab the largest piece available to him – a chunk of deer thigh – and he chewed through the aged meat with a starved gusto. He had eaten nearly all of it before remembering he was in another’s company.
Why don’t you let them always talk for you?he asked, licking his chops.
I, for one, would never bother talking if I had someone else to do it for me.
