It had been a few days since Selena had seen another wolf. Specifically, another adult. As much as she treasured them, the woman did not count the children as company. They were her duty and quite frankly a source of anxiety. But today the shadow was able to drift further from the den-site, grateful that Alpha had returned from exercising her duties. No doubt both mother and children could use a bit of family bonding time without the sitter breathing over them... plus a reprieve from whining and roughhousing was needed for herself. It had been so long since she was around pups, and more exhausting than she had remembered.

To the lake she flew, extending her small figure to the fullest to work forgotten muscles. The run alone felt wonderful after being sedentary for a few days. It was so humid, no doubt from the rain that was on it's way. Slowing her gait and tilting her sight to the heavy clouds above, Selena pondered the weather forecast for the next few hours. She had wanted to bathe herself, but now thought perhaps she should wait until after the rain fell. No point in getting clean just to trek through muck and mud again.

Finally, her paws met unforgiving clay, a pretty color but rather uncomfortable under-paw when it was too dry. The wolf quickly bypassed this section to wade further in where the sediment below gave cushion, unaware that she was sharing this bit of respite with another. She was upwind from the drifting woman, and too busy watching the ripples her own legs made as she pushed herself to submerge deeper and deeper. The Lake called to the women of Greatwater today.
