In her dreams, she felt something shift within her.
A dividing of whatever was left of her soul, if it had ever been a part of her to begin with. The curse she'd been cast with, had not faded when her heart had stopped- it was in that moment that it coursed through her cooling veins and spread into her fading memories, only to find itself renewed within her consciousness the moment her heart had been struck back into life again.
It fed on her, until she supplied it with a new host; a gambit she hadn't entirely expected to work, not knowing the dark arts herself. And with the first fluttering sensations of life, she began to feel the entity shift its focus from her aging form, and she began to know the darkness more intimately.
She awoke and began to walk, still feeling light flutterings deep within her belly. She would feed it, allow it to grow- keep it healthy and happy so that in a month's time she might shed it and be rid of it. She would only have to last until then, she thought, and then her soul would be free.
Until then, she would patrol the borders, a vessel for immense darkness that she kept trapped and secret within her womb.
