The fur on mother was new too.

When Petal looked at it, it was with admiration though. She did not know the beauty of it hid something grisly — if she had known that, maybe she would have figured out the world in that moment.

She only hummed softly at her mother's suggestion of bringing something back for her sisters. She imagined they were having more fun without her lazily napping around their energetic antics anyway. It would be the nice thing to do, though, and so she would do it happily.

"I know a lot has changed,"

She nodded, near idly as she shuffled her nose through some of the woodland flooring. Everything was changing every day. It was just the way of the world.

"Now that we're safe."

Her attention was drawn away from whatever shrubbery had captured her. That was not only new but news. Perhaps she had always been well balanced between napping or being delicately watched that the concept of not being safe had never crossed her mind. Petal didn't know real danger — not like her mother or any of the other adults.
