Ataninnuaqï circled above his head. Kassuq lazed beneath the boughs of a pine, his eyes closed but his ears swiveling to catch every small sound.
The message had been sent, he assumed. All he had to do was wait for the woman from the red stone camp to arrive, and see what happened from there. Hopefully, she would not mind his owl. The caribou hunters hadn’t, it had proved useful at some points, and a mere side glance at others.
He blew a breath to the still-chilled air, stretching out his limbs for a brief moment before settling them against the earth again. It was a good day to laze, at least. And if he and the red camp woman didn’t get on, he could always return to the caribou hunters, or strike out on his own as a trader in his own right.
