Qeya River the sky is falling, the sun is going to explode

The variegated woman was easy to spot, lingering almost hungrily at the borders as an adder might pause before striking. Not knowing what emotion painted her features (a nuance he was often slow to learn) he approached warily, the brush of his tail lifted and ears flicked forward.

He considered telling her to flee now, before it was too late- but it was too risky. If she knew Sun Eater, he would surely be punished when his warning was relayed. 

A brief wave in his tail was given to assure he would not attack unless provoked, but his pace remained stiff and cautious as he closed the distance between them. 

Something about her colouration and features reminded him vaguely of the sheepdogs who used to guard the flock- who cursed him whenever he was within earshot…Rightfully so, given the fact he slaughtered the sheep whenever he could. But he saw in them something of a kindred spirit, longing to be set free. They too thrived in the chase- but lacked the urge to kill. 

He wondered if she was the same.
