She looked up, and - the chieftain was moving at her fast. Too fast!
She moved. She did not know how nor where she was moving. But again she felt something bluntly strike somewhere around her shoulder; again she felt teeth to fur and skin. For a brief moment there she wondered if she had dodged enough, if the hit had not hurt her too much, given that she was not being sent flying paces away as she had last time.
And then she got her answer through a sudden metallic pang and a warmth where no warmth should be.
Blood.
The realization did not cripple her, but it added a stumble to her footing as pain surged in. Not agonizing, merely unexpected. Her legs did not feel strain, but they threatened to collapse for reasons unknown to her at the moment. She refused to allow her knees to buckle, perhaps out of a passive spite. She had nothing against Sun Eater - she just did not wish for her weaknesses to be exposed by a drop of blood.
A shiver entered her legs as she regarded the caribou man. No wonder he commanded fear with such ease. No longer was he a hunter, a warrior, but rather ferocity itself.
