She let out a breath when he said he would go with them, then clarified his previous statement. The vise clenching every single one of her internal organs loosened ever so slightly. Alaric and Tikaani were as much her home as the mountain itself, so Treepie felt better knowing he would stick with them. But leaving this land still wouldn’t be easy.

This isn’t goodbye, she said to no one in particular, though her eyes swept over the mountainside, it’s just… see you later.

She tore her eyes from Moonspear then and looked to her companions. With a wan smile and quick dip of her head, she took those first difficult steps away from the village that was no more.
