Redhawk Caldera Caution ahead.

Alivia tilted her head skeptically, silently challenging Towhee's assertion that an announcement would have been weird. If this kind of news wasn't worth an announcement, then what was? Her expression softened in response to Towhee's gentle nudge. 

When Towhee revealed that Alivia was being called upon because she was thought to have expertise, Alivia straightened up a little. She was still adjusting to the fact that she might be the highest trained medical mind available to Redhawk Caldera-- a thought that was equally elating and terrifying. 

"Oh yeah, I do know this one," Alivia remarked of the orange-tinted fungus. As a pup, she had been constantly on the move with only her handicapped mother to care for her, so the pair had been forced to find some unconventional ways to eat until Alivia grew large and skilled enough to hunt for them. 

"It won't, like, kill you or anything, and it actually tastes pretty good, but it may mess up your stomach. Those are the better bet," she said, pointing to the mushrooms that Hotah had left behind. "Much more reliable."

Hmm, Aquene. No, she didn't remember her, to tell the truth. Alivia remembered next to nothing about her early days in the canyon. Aquene sounded like a talented midwife, though. 

"I didn't know that about fish and mushrooms," Alivia admitted, "But I do know that red meat is really important on this side of the pregnancy." If Towhee neglected red meat in favor of other fare to boost her milk supply, she risked doing more harm than good.
