Moonspear the glitches

She would begin her day very early tomorrow morning, so Treepie planned to fetch supper and then head to bed. Hoping to conserve her energy for the trip to the caldera, the yearling crept toward the nearest stockpile and sifted through its contents. She unearthed a dead pika and some leftover leg of lamb.

Shadows deepened around her as she deliberated, her tail switching to and fro. Finally, she nosed the rodent—stiffer than a petrified tree branch—out of the cache, then plucked it up in her teeth. She swiveled, yellow eyes cutting to her left before she trotted that way, headed toward a scenic overlook where she could enjoy sunset as she ate.
