She slung herself down near the edge, legs outstretched and toes dangling as she settled the carcass against her chest. It would be tough, though Pie didn’t mind. She bent down and began gnawing at the nearest limb, quickly severing it with a gruesome noise that didn’t quite drown out the “hello” that sounded nearby.

Tiuttuk flicked her head up sharply, her body stiffening as she peered up at the stranger. She dropped the dead pika and stood, ascertaining the unfamiliar she-wolf with both eyes and nose. She offered a name readily enough, even seemed to know Treepie’s. Any wariness wore off quickly.

Greetings, Kira. You can call me Pie, she confirmed with a smile. I’m starting to get FOMO with all these K-names, she quipped with a huff of laughter. Have you been here long?

She supposed none of them had lived here long—pardoning herself, Alaric and Tikaani, of course—but Katmai and his ilk had been haunting the mountainside for weeks now. It was possibly Kira had been among them all this time and they simply hadn’t crossed paths. Or perhaps she was a more recent recruit. Pie’s head tilted in anticipation of the story.
