Elwood responded as expected, with sympathy that Fin hardly felt she deserved. She kept her gaze averted away from him, but felt it as he came and planted himself near to her side. Part of her wanted to lean in and fall apart against her friend's embrace, but Fin was not accustom to such vulnerability. She was far better at diversion and denial. But even that she couldn't exactly muster in her current state. She was just too tired and miserable.
