He waited patiently as Peregrine contemplated a response, presumably thinking up an ungodly number of inappropriate questions. Elwood entertained himself in the meantime, wondering what the Alpha would come up with. He half expected Peregrine to inquire about Finley, since he and Fox seemed to be convinced that they were star-crossed lovers -- or, at least, destined to bang at some point.

But when Peregrine finally spoke, Elwood was shocked into silence by his words. It wasn't so much what he asked -- that had been the gist of their conversation, hadn't it? -- but he asked it with surprising sobriety. Did he really think Elwood was into guys?

"What? No!" was his short and flustered response.
