The Alpha had the advantage of size, and was likely more skilled due to age and experience. That wouldn't stop Elwood from giving it his all, though -- or at least, as much of his "all" as a play fight required.

His shoulder ached slightly where he had slammed into Peregrine, so he paused for just a moment to roll it and stretch out the joint. Peregrine was waiting for him to make the next move. After careful calculation (which was, in reality, about half a second of consideration) Elwood pounced again, hoping to land his paws on Peregrine and force him to the ground.
