No one came. It actually hurt more than she'd expected. How could Tegan simply stop caring about her? Just for trying to find some semblance of independence? Just for doing what she loved? Oh. Maybe that was it. Her belly filled with a sick sort of fire as she wondered if he was really in love with Poe. He didn't need her (Bat) anymore, did he? And would she even want to hang around, watching those two live out her dream of yore—the one she'd thought she'd been over but clearly wasn't?
Her eyes filled with tears. Bat sniffed, trying to hold onto them, but they streamed freely down her face as she turned away from the plateau and began heading for the distant horizon. She wouldn't go far before she called @Sequoia to join her, though Bat would give herself a few moments to collect herself. She was a little heartbroken, though she didn't want to start this adventure on the wrong foot. This was going to be a good thing, a happy thing, a real coming-of-age and into-her-own sort of story.
