The sprite darting between the dead trees, an ill begotten snack held between their teeth and in their mouth. They let out a silent giggle, the only knowledge of its existence being the minute quiver of their shoulders, before they dipped their head down to lay out the body of the quail they had taken from a fox when it had investigated another noise, that noise being them, throwing pebbles with their maw.
Then, they rolled an egg out of their cheek, resting it beside the quail. Slowly, the fay creature lowered their body to the ashen dirt, tucking the egg to their chest, and starting to strip meat from the delicate bones of the quail, still faintly giggling at the success of their little trick.
