Ravensblood Forest in the woods somewhere

Snow bit sharply at the pads of Gluska’s paws. He trekked carefully across the frozen expanse, eyes intent for any signs of prey that would be taking refuge in the confines of the trees. It was mildly peculiar to see a towering forest so close to the sea, but he was in no place to question the growth of the land. The woods had housed him for the past week or more, keeping him safely out of the way of the frigid water and still close enough to linger near the packs that called the coast home. A small hole in the ground had provided the male with enough room to carve himself a temporary den. He had concealed the entrance with a heavy branch. Secluded and safe, he could come and go as he pleased and would return to the home exactly as he had left it.

Sauntering around the trunks of the trees, Gluska flicked his sharp yellow gaze in the direction of the brush underneath. Certainly, there would be small rabbits hiding in the dark holes there. The foliage was dense enough that snow would not fall through, but small creatures could seek shelter there all the same. Letting out a high-pitched whine, Gluska’s fur bristled as a red fox darted from the cover it had taken beneath the trees. With a curling grin, the coywolf darted in pursuit of the creature.
