@Aerenys ;-;
All day, the clouds were dark. Inky, gloomy.
And all day, Eldritch watched with worry as the growing storm crawled closer to Blackfeather Woods.
Santiago was gone.
Everyone except Mati was gone...
By sunset, the scarlet sky was completely overcast in murky gray, and the winds were picking up.
"Mati! We need to find shelter!" The Seer called above the growling sky and hard wind. She knew Aerenys was never very far, but...there was no answer that she could make out.
And suddenly, a slash of lightning blew into the Woods, making the crows and ravens cry and scatter.
Too close...too close...
Smoke...
Another lighting bolt to the trees.
Fire. There was fire...
It was growing. Spreading, infesting and destroying-
"MATI!!!!" Eldritch screeched, sprinting through the forest in frantic effort to find her spirit-kin.
Ten minutes...fifteen...by nearly thirty minutes of running, searching, everything was engulfed. Smoke was thick and it was hard to breathe.
"MATI! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" El cried, coughing horribly and squinting through the blaze.
Where was she?!
Eventually, Eldritch found herself at the edges of Blackfeather, heaving and uncharacteristically scared, worried...tears streamed down her face as she took a breath, screaming, roaring one last time for Aerenys. Yet the call was muted as a blast of lightning hit the ground close enough to Eldritch that she was sent flying, sprawling, yards away.
"Mati..." Eldritch whimpered, watching with deepening sadness as the Woods burned. Breath shaking, Eldritch scrambled unsteadily to her paws and ran. Which direction, to where, she didn't know. All she knew now was that Blackfeather Woods was no longer her home, and for the first time in what felt like forever, she felt truly, utterly alone...
...Where would she go now?

Eldritch is fluent in Daedric (Valryian) thanks to Aerenys having taught her the language behind the scenes

im not gonna cry...im not gonna cry. 3
The forest had been cast in even further shadow, the day smothering with its claustrophobic cover of ominous clouds. Already, the darkling had been experiencing a nagging instinct that begged the need of hiding herself away, holing up in her den like some woodland creature with knocking knees. As the wind whipped through the boughs of pine, tearing free needles that stung at her face and snagged in the wild snarls of her onyx plumage, the raven gave way to that primal part of her brain that piloted her preservation and sought the confines of the underground.
But it was too late, the skies cracking open and striking the trees in a flash of sparks and dark wings as the warring birds finally released their claim to the Woods -- panicked caws escaping them. With a roar that drowned out her moon-of-night's cries, the timberland was suddenly illuminated in the inferno's hellish blaze -- the darkness stolen by the swirls of burning sparks like bits of orange stars scattered, thickened by the plumes of heavy smoke that snatched the air from her lungs with cruel fingers.
Gasping for breath, stumbling as if she'd drunk too much berrywine, the priestess fled blindly for the borders -- blinking through a veil of blurry tears induced in equal parts by the fire and her own terror. The thunderous crash of one of the black pines -- landing only meters behind the fleeing Melonii -- gave her limbs an extra boost as yelps peeled from her lips, her haunches lit afire by the sting of needles whipping against her flesh.
The fire consumed her as she tore from the borders, begging the gods that her nightkin had somehow escaped the flames -- the she-panther dropping to the ground and writhing in an attempt to smother the flames that had eaten away at her dark fur and flesh, hoarse screams escaping her as the motion tore at her blistered skin.
Once she had staggered to her feet, the woman turned hazy eyes towards the flames -- fearing that the fire may have blinded her when she could only make out an orange blur. "El," she croaked, wheezing, over and over until there was nothing left of her voice, only the silent shape of the Nightwish's name on her lips.
She could not be certain when she lost hope, only that when she did, she turned away from the horrid scene and began the agonizing process of limping away from what remained of the Woods -- certain she would find that hole she'd craved earlier and bury herself in it.
"you said she's scared of me?"
"but maybe it's because I'm wearing your c o l o g n e."
