It was eerie - an atmosphere of dread.
She had wandered off from the coast and come closer to west. The female was different shades of brown, her orange eyes searching in the area, her nose was moving, scouting ahead she was looking for a border. She had scented much activity around this area and now she was looking for it.
She had limited her options, her most nasty personality had gotten her chased off several borders already, she was not keen on going to another, but she was getting - well lonely wasn't the right word for it. She liked her own company, but she needed a sense of purpose, a pack could provide that. She knew she could be useful, but not in the sense that she could fight. She knew herbs, plants and the way the body functioned.
She wanted to specialize, expand her horizons, but it seemed no one wanted these abilities within their pack - or maybe they just didn't want her in the pack. Which was more likely. She lifted her head slightly, crouched and in a position of defense she sniffed the air. This was it.
She knew from experience that all she had to do was wait, borders would be patrolled, someone would come. She began inspecting the plants around her. This was unfamiliar territory to her, the mountains were new, she had never been to a mountain before. She sniffed the few plants that were left and tried to recall if she had ever come across them before. Though none of them seemed familiar to her old nose. She scowled. perfect, just perfect. Here she was claiming to be knowledgeable on plants and she didn't recognize those that were around here. She would have to start from scratch and actually talk to others to learn. At her age too. She snorted displeased.
She did not like to talk to others, nor was she any good at it.
