Sentry perched upon a stone, he looked out towards the opening of the valley.
Evening would fall soon and someone might come to switch spots with him. Perhaps he'd tell them that it was okay, that he'd take the night too. For he was watching as the sun broke through the clouds and lit the world on fire in summer sun.
He thought he saw something dancing through tall grasses. He thought he saw someone without a care in the world, free and unbridled by his own permanent burdens.
He thought he saw @Losi out there.
His jaw clenched so firmly that he nearly devoured his own tongue in the process by accident. How terrible of his own brain, to conjure up things so sweet that were not there. Things he did not deserve to even imagine.

Hopefully this is alright! I thought it would be fun to send Tawodi his way to check in on him ;)
He had returned to the Valley in which they had settled in, and found Sad-wolf gone.
Rose-wolf leaking water from eyes, even through the water from sky. She asked him to search for and follow the one who left. The raptor hesitated, worried for Rose-wolf, but after soft words and a promise to stay safe in the Valley from her, he clacked his beak in acceptance before launching back into the sky.
And, now, here he was, watching Sad-wolf while gliding among the clouds.
It was time to make himself known.
A shrill shriek before he dove.

The shrill sound sent ripples down his spine that resulted in raised hairs.
He would not harm the bird, but it had certainly jolted him into a rather harrowing sight. Yet he could not figure out if the familiar beast was diving with intent to hurt him (he deserved it, he thought) or to simply come closer.
His gaze squinted as if to protect his eyes against the bird as much as the sun.

Another shriek as he landed—out of reach and for the obvious discomfort in the wolf’s face—with questions laced in the call.
“Where did you go, why did you leave? Why are you here? Did you find what you were looking for?
Yet, he did not speak the common tongue of the wolves, and could only stare curiously, head cocked as gold eyes watched Sad-wolf.
Waiting.
Wondering.
Feathers ruffled as he shifted, talons scraped against stone. Tawodi settled himself to hear any sort of explanation, whatever Sad-wolf wanted to give.
If he chose.
