open to paloma only

It had been approximately three weeks since Nivis was gone on and off; and it had been exactly ten days since Nivis officially distanced himself from the mansion and remained in the darkness of the woods, aside and at the borders of his and @Reyna’s shared territory. That amount of time was very much all needed for him to process all his thoughts and come to the conclusion of what needed to be done.

He wasn’t ready to be a perfect father, and he was never going to become a dad of any of his children’s dreams, but he was supposedly going to become more involved in the children’s lives, even if it meant greeting them with: “hi rats” in the morning. How casual.

Seemingly nobody understood what he was going through and him not opening up about his own feelings didn’t help anyhow. (At least, the drugged state of mind gave him the permission to trauma-dump to a drug-dealing stranger he would certainly approach as a client to buy more substances from, from now on).

Finally (in sacrifice to his responsibilities he didn’t know how to handle), ever since the pack was established, Nivis has been able to think his life through far away from everyone. So much had been happening, and he was ready to face the consequences of his actions; playfully though. There was nothing wrong with taking a break if too overwhelmed, and it has always been a strategy of his to run away from off-putting matters.

He needed to talk to Reyna first; ask how she was doing and visit the puppies. They have definitely gotten overly too big and more annoying to handle.

It wasn’t like Nivis was going to become a better person; not at all, actually. He just felt refreshed and full of energy to cause more drama and come back stronger to spend some time alone with the love of his life in the confines of their shared den.

All fun and games, big plans and all, it was, until standing in front of the building and yawning despite sleeping for days straight. Hunger made him see trees twice and eating something was the second thing he wanted to do the most now. Then the future twist came and @Paloma stood in front of him, dragging an eye roll out of him.

She seemed upset; how unexpected. Nivis soiled her garden not only once.

If it ain’t Paloma all by herself. Long time no see. Glad to know you are not dead yet. What is it this time?

I'm not alone, Nivis. She sneered, her nose wrinkling at the sight of their Patriarca. The only one who had been keeping to themselves was him. It seemed the fuck boy Reyna loved so much (yet Paloma couldn't understand why) still was having trouble with the idea of growing up and having responsibilities- like a pack, a mate and children, for instance.

No matter. It seemed Reyna had found someone else to occupy her time. Someone who just at the very sight of would be easy to tell could whoop Nivis' thin ass.

Finally come back to actually fill your duties? Paloma snorts.

Duties? I’ve been fulfilling those just fine, Paloma. What’s so bad about taking a break?

Nivis stares and groans, keeping his head high and unbothered. Paloma had always been like this, and therefore it didn’t surprise him in the slightest that she was about to give him a parental lesson. It was about time; they didn’t have a chance to get to it earlier.

Spare me this, I am exhausted. Besides, what you got to tell me about duties anyway? You are just a maid. Being kinda cheeky to your leadership, aren’t you?

Supposedly, you have always been so I am not surprised.

She snorts, speckled nose turning up and away. He groans, she tisks. They both know what's coming. She had bitched at him far enough times before.

My work in being just a maid is how you've come to live some comfortably, is it not? Shaking out bedding until her neck was sore, skinning new pelts until her teeth hurt. Fetching water in a piece of wood and trying not to spill it. Hunting tirelessly for herbs to make sure he didn't ever feel a thing but good. Her lavender eyes did the rolling now.

There are no breaks in being a father - and it's been only weeks at that. Reyna claims a new land, works to build a new empire as a new Matriarch and become a new mother, and where are you? Taking a break. She huffs, sitting down with a flop on the cold cavern floor in a pout- same as he. Nivis made her sick. Just SICK! You are starting out poorly, my Patriarca. She snaps, his title spoken with a mockery. He didnt deserve to touch Reyna, let alone fuck her.

Nivis sighs: getting scolded by the maid herself, how typical. Luckily, he is bored, and luckily he doesn’t feel like taking further action. Where would they be if he did anyway… they need her, and he needs entertainment as much. Spare her then. Again, Paloma, what you have to got to tell me?

Besides, Reyna wouldn’t like the results of that.

Let me hear more, entertain me. He adds, stretching and getting comfortable. That’s your job as a maid anyway; taking care of my children included. That’s how it has been in my family, in Reyna’s family; supposedly even in yours. You should be the one making it easier for her, shouldn’t you? But instead, you choose to be a bitch and stick your nose into a parental and love life business of mine. How upsetting. I have not even been on my typical shit, and guess why—because I have got a wife with kids at home, who you might be wanting to tend now, hmm? To make it easier for my wife, so I can spend time with her. Like her rightful husband. Maybe that’s why she cannot take a break on her own, because you are not there. Maybe that’s why I cannot spend time with her, because you are not doing your job properly. Maybe it is because I am a man and men in my family don’t take care of offsprings.

But don’t worry. He adds after the monologue finished. My children, I’ll meet them when the time comes, and they’ll be given a proper explanation. No poor maid advices needed.

And political matters, Nivis whispers as those steps close the wide distance between him and Paloma. are none of your business. Stay in your lane, and keep yourself away from those, miss nosy maid.

Paloma gives a long rant and Nivis finds himself giving an even longer one. He turns the tables, as though it were her fault why Nivis hadn't had time to get to know his new pups. Why Reyna worked herself tirelessly. She scoffs. Really!?! Nivis hadn't spent time with the Matriarcha because he hadn't been here. He mentions how lately he had been a good boy, not "on his typical shit", as he puts it. Cheating fuck. Then again, as it were, Reyna had been giving Nivis a dose of his own medicine. Another man which had been taking up her time and not him. This was something, of course, Paloma would rather die then let Nivis in on. Paloma could only hope that the pups would grow up to understand that everything they enjoyed in life was by the grace of their Queen mother, @Reyna and not this rat basterd.
I don't have shit to tell you. She finally said then, after he was finished with his rant - his excuses for not being around or doing anything. Lifting up and giving a sneer, she turned from his with a swish of her plush tail and stomped down the cavern hall.

can be the final reply or not, if so, feel free to archive the thread!

Noooo… Paloma, come back. We haven’t finished talking yet, you are making it so haaaard leaving the issue unsolved. Nivis scoffed and called after the little piece of a servant, who happily continued to ignore him and paced slowly far away from him.

Have you ever thought of yourself as someone who is maybe dedicated to have the lives of children in your hands? It made no sense. Have you ever realized you are someone special who gets to handle and basically raise the children of nobles? Their lives are in your hands, and that’s quite big of a responsibility. You are the chosen one, who is trusted to nurture them, and yet you find yourself bothered. Think about it.
